Making a lampshade can be a fun and practical DIY project. You can choose from various materials and methods to suit your personal preferences and creativity. Here are some creative ways to make lampshades:

Leaf lampshades

Materials: colorful plastic beverage bottles, scissors, soldering iron, thin copper wire, LED lights, knives, and iron ring frames.

First, cut leaf shapes of various sizes from a plastic bottle. Use a soldering iron to smooth out the sharp edges and etch the veins into the leaves. After making enough leaves, connect them with thin copper wire to form branches. Create several branches with leaves to allow for layering. Finally, arrange the branches into a circular shape, attach them to the iron ring frame, and your lampshade is complete.

Hollow lampshade

Materials: Hemp rope, white latex, balloons, string lights

Blow up a balloon to your desired size and tie it off. Then, soak hemp rope or paper rope in white glue and wrap it irregularly around the balloon until you achieve your desired effect.

Wait for the glue on the hemp rope to dry completely, then deflate and remove the balloon. Your lampshade is now ready.

Entwine the string lights irregularly with the hemp rope. Once done, turn on the lights to see the effect.

Paper plate lampshade

Materials: white cardboard sheets, paper plate, hot melt adhesive, ruler, pencil, scissors

Cut pieces of white cardboard to the desired size and glue the ends together to form a cylinder. Place a light bulb in the center of the cylinder. Make sure the cylinder is appropriately sized for your needs.

Take out a disposable paper tray and draw two lines in the middle, each 0.5-1 cm wide.

Fold the paper tray along the two lines you drew, then apply hot melt adhesive to the creases. Use the hot melt glue to attach the folded paper tray vertically on top of the cylindrical shape, continuing until the entire cylinder is covered.

Petal lampshade

Materials: cardboard, bast paper, floral wire, white latex, acrylic paint, small brush

First, draw the desired petal shape on cardboard to create a template. Use this template to trace 24 petals onto bast paper. Dip a brush pen in water and trace along the outlines of the petals. Once the bast paper is sufficiently wet, gently tear along the outlines by hand to create petals with raw edges.

Mix the pigment to your liking and use it to color the petals. Allow the petals to dry completely after applying the color.

Once the petals are dry, gather them and knead each one into a paper ball. Then, gently spread them out to create natural folds in the petals.

Cut 12 wires to match the length of the petals.

Take two petals and coat them with white latex. Place a wire in the middle of one petal, then glue the other petal on top of it. Allow the glued petals to dry completely. Once dry, the petals will have a natural curvature on both sides.

Arrange all 12 petals to form the shape of a flower and secure them together with hot melt adhesive.

Cut a small circle in the middle of the flower to facilitate the passage through the screw of the bulb.

Overlap the two flower arrangements and secure them in place using the bulb's screw. Adjust the flower wire to achieve the desired shape, and your petal lampshade is complete.
